The BFSA Executive Board and the Disability Committee have worked hard to bring you an optional Supplemental Short Term Disability Income Insurance coverage through Transamerica Financial Life Insurance Company. The Funds have agreed to deduct the premiums from your paycheck should you choose to enroll in this insurance program.
Transamerica will be coming to the break room in November to present the information regarding this benefit in workshops held in the Break Room du
Negotiations are in progress. Surveys have been distributed and are needed from all Benefit Fund Staff Association members so we can better discuss and voice your concerns. Your BFSA Negotiations Committee has already met twice and our next meeting is set for October 22. Let us be prepared by having all surveys in. If a survey has not been provided please see your floor delegate or contact one of your Executive Board Members. Thank you and we look forward to a successful cont

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for attending today’s Delegate meeting, it gives me great pleasure to announce that we had perfect attendance today. I commend you all for coming together at the table to have a very productive and respectful meeting. At this time we must put our personal differences aside and remain focused on standing strong in unity and rebuilding this Union to what it once was. It won’t happen overnight it may not even happen with this current
The year has certainly proven to be one for retirees as we say goodbye to a few of our brothers and sisters within the BFSA. This past month alone we have said our farewells to four very devoted and truly deserving members. On October 31, 2017, Hector Pabon, Maintaner I, in our Facilities department who has served 16 years had decided to leave quietly, but very much appreciated and celebrated by his fellow coworkers, friends and BFSA Delegate, Margie Escobar as well as Presid

Brothers and Sisters of the BFSA,
The General Membership Meeting scheduled for June 29th, 2017 has been rescheduled to Thursday July 13th 2017. It will remain a lunchtime meeting slotted from 12pm - 3pm. Since many of you have stated that evening meetings conflict with your commute home this is the best option so more of you can participate. A light lunch will be served.

Our next GMM has been rescheduled to July 13, 2017 between the lunch hours of 12-3pm. Light lunch will be provided and we want to see you there. Solidarity and Unity must be accomplished if we truly want to succeed. Let your voices be heard and join us. #BenfitFund #BFSA #Union #Members
We all wish it wouldn't come to this, but once you feel the need to make up rules and treat your union employees as if they don't matter or have rights it's a definite must. Stop outsourcing and restructuring our jobs without advising or compensating us. #BFSA #Union #1199SEIUBenefitPensionFund
It is with great sadness that I inform you all that as of today, June 21, 2017, after 13 consecutive years of being a loyal Union Representative I am resigning as Chairperson of the Delegate Body and also as a Delegate of the BFSA. Due to recent events I feel that I am being targeted unjustly by our Employer 1199SEIU Benefit & Pension Fund. The actions being taken are not limited to myself as many members are either currently experiencing the weight of unreasonable Labor Prac
We are seeing it more and more each day and are wondering whatever happened to the 1199SEIU Benefit & Pension Fund we once admired and were happy to work for. Corporate minions have certainly come in and changed every thing we once looked up to and turned it into a nightmare. The following compares Union and Non-Union staff and just clearly tells you where management is leading towards in our organization. We are still part Union, we are still here and we will be one to ackno
As we geared up for our upcoming GMM and were happy to announce it would be a lunch time meeting, we were finally given the okay by HR and booked the 9th floor break room to conduct our meeting during ones respective lunch period. Lunch was to be included. Unfortunately, this meeting will have to be rescheduled due to issues in-house that need to be addressed. A new date will be confirmed and shared as soon as possible. Sincerely, Benefit Fund Staff Association Your Union wi
General Membership Meetings are a very important component of a Union. Throughout my years at the Fund I have noticed that attendance is not at desired levels. We have examined this and based on responses such as "needing to go right home after work," many have stated that they would attend the meetings if it were held during the middle of the day. At this time I would like to announce that our next General Membership Meeting "tentatively" scheduled for Thursday, June 29th 20
It can be easy to let work experiences like favoritism, harassment and unfair treatment get you down but the fact remains it doesn't have to. It is what's in you that counts and your well being that truly matters most at the end or start of any day. Many instances can be worked on and being Union means you are never truly alone, but that means you need to rely on your Executive Board and Delegate members so all issues can be discussed and documented. We can understand that
